Justice Spirit for Lawyers
To my sister and brother lawyers:

Saying that ours is a challenging profession may be “tenacious grasp of the obvious” (as my old English teacher used to say) but it bears repeating.  We have the frequently thankless task of being the intermediaries between our clients and the legal system.  Our clients trust us with their families, their property, their well-being and sometimes their lives.  The legal system may or may not be well-equipped to handle their situation.  In any event, our client’s life will probably change, and going through that change most likely will involve emotional and spiritual crises.

We, as lawyers, are not trained to handle our clients’ emotional and spiritual needs.  Some of us are gifted in one or the other of these areas, some of us took extra training in psychology or religion, and those of us who haven’t try our best.  Even if you have the skills, it may be more than you can do to handle both your client’s legal needs and their spiritual and emotional ones.  They may want emotional and spiritual advice on how to handle their life situation and you may not be the best person to offer that.

This is where Justice Spirit comes in.  I offer these services to you and your clients:

  1.     Collaboration.  I will work collaboratively with you and your client.  While you provide the legal advice, I provide the emotional and spiritual support your client needs.  My work can be done by telephone and web-cam conferencing, sometimes with you and sometimes with your client alone.  By helping your client navigate the emotional and spiritual aspects of their situation, I can help make the legal end run more smoothly.
  2.     Case Conferencing.  I am available to consult with you directly on your client’s situation.  It always helps to have another set of eyes on the case, and because I have so many years of law practice experience and such a diverse background, I am frequently able to see avenues that may not be obvious.  I have done this successfully with many lawyers over the years.
  3.     Client Counseling.  If you refer your client to me for a Justice Spirit session, I will be glad to talk with you first to get your input on the situation.  If your client agrees, I can keep you advised of your client’s state of mind.
